Volunteer drivers deliver individually packaged nutritionally balanced (1/3 RDA) meals to the participants' homes along specified routes around the noon hour Mondays through Fridays.
In addition to bringing the meal to the homebound, the drivers provide an assurance check each day. The drivers note any unusual circumstances or condition. If anything appears out of the ordinary for the client, the driver will telephone the main office to report those conditions immediately. Emergency phone numbers for each client are on file in the main office.
For the independent senior who is able to travel, congregate dining takes place in the same sites where the bulk meals are packaged. There are three Congregate Sites - in Annandale, Flemington and Lambertville - where participants may start arriving at the site via public transportation or their own vehicles, etc. at approximately 10:45 a.m. Participants enjoy the added benefits of socializing with friends, participating in crafts, games, and educational programs.
Participants of both Home Delivered Meals and Congregate Nutrition Programs can elect to receive two cold-bag lunches for weekend consumption. For Meals on Wheels participants, these meals are delivered with the regular hot meal on Fridays. Congregate participants can pick them up at the site while attending on Fridays.
